Jan 28, 1971 was the first gathering of the Security Locksmiths Association (SLA). To qualify for membership in the SLA a locksmith needed to receive full benefits from an industrial, institutional or governmental firm. Each monthly meeting featured a guest speaker from lock manufacturers and distributors. Parliamentary procedures were never used to conduct the meetings, to allow more time for the speaker’s presentation and keep meetings as short as possible. The requirements were simply maintain regular attendance at meetings.
In Jan 2022 the association was taken over with some new direction and is providing online meetings so locksmiths nationwide can attend and learn from each other. Forming a partnership with the California Institute of Locksmithing, providing education to the industry just became easier. Lead by J. Corey Friedman who has 35+ years in the industry as a locksmith, educator and tech support/sales for HPC, Hudson and ESP he is using his experience and expertise to move the association forward to be the premier association in the industry.
We are always looking for help with raffle prize donations, educational speakers, written articles or anyway you feel you can help.
